In the Sea and in the Sky
Today it's Danielle posting again! This is a picture of the rocket launch. It was the first launch at nighttime in 4 years. The space shuttle is only piloted by 6 people! This isn't a very good picture but it's the best one. The entire sky was lit up like daytime. It was supposed to launch last Thursday but the clouds were to thick. Within 8 minutes it was 643 miles down range from the launch site traveling at 14,000 miles an hour. ZOOOOOOOOOM!
Outside the aquarium in Charleston,South Carolina. Me and my buddy the frog.
Kennedy Point Yacht Club in Florida. Close up picture of a manatee. We saw 4 manatee's. This one is a mama and her baby is hiding under her but keeps coming up for air. Every single manatee we saw had at least 3 scars from being hit by proppelors. Exept the baby. This one has a huge chunk missing from her tail.
It's Christmas time and we have a boat size live Christmas tree. It's puny. We also have a garland aroung the mast.
At the aquarium in Charleston. A GIANT sae turtle. It doesn't look as big in the picture but it's HUGE! We learned that a sea turtle can hold his breath for 45 miutes and that when it sleeps, (for about 4 hours) it slows it's heart rate to save oxygen. It slows it to 1 beat per 9 minutes! That's only 10-11 beats per hour! And our heart rate is around 70 beats per minute. I find that fascinating. We also saw jellyfish and sharks and eels and otters. They were my favorite.

Awsome pictures Dannielle! Was the launch loud... and did it make the boat shake? It looks like you guys were quite close.
Also great pics at the aquariam in Charleston .. Steve looks amazed looking at the giant turtle... and your frog pal is way cool!
Too bad about the 'Charlie Brown' Xmas tree but I guess you have to sacrifice some things for the great boat adventure ... not too many are feeling sorry for you guys!
Keep up the good work, it's tons of fun.
Looking forward to seeing all of you soon.
Lots of love,
Grampa & Gerry

Hey all,
Happy New Year! Just got to a computer and saw the latest msgs. All looks well. I pray you are having fun and learning much about everything. Still like the cucumber eyes, Doug. Hope you stop back at MBYC on your way home.
Peace and love. bruce
Happy New Year to the Mara family!
I did call you when we were in Florida but my cell phone had the wrong number in it!! Some guy called me back and said 'did you just call me?'. I don't know how that happened; I know a computer is only as good as who enters the info!! I know the way you think Doug; yeah yeah!!! We enjoyed Florida and the cruise and now it's back to reality! Boy, do I wish I was you right now...it's tough getting back into the swing of things.
I hope you are enjoying your time in Vero Beach. I've always wanted to go there. Are you heading to the Bahamas?? I hope you get there. It is quite amazing. We were able to go to Nassau and stand on the beach where we got married. That was neat. We also made it to Freeport - nice little town too!
So, sorry we couldn't hook up again. Maybe in July again if you're still gallivanting.
Let us know how you're doing.
Anyhow, take care all and stay in good health.
Kelly and Paul
