George Town

The winning team from the 2007 World Coconut Olympics held in George Town, Exumas. Check your New York Times for complete details. Uncle Jeff joined us as well as John from Caretta, out of Charleston, and though the pennnats are valuable I think the team was inspired mainly by the bottle of rum awarded each winning team member.

The spoils from the coconut harvest event, the marquis event of the coconut olympics during which we established our insurmountable lead with a record 132 coconuts. Through a rigorous training program & sound Kalik based startegy sessions we managed to row out fastest using only 1 flipper each, on a hand, & fill the dinghy with the most coconuts from the harbour while being bombarded with buckets of water from nearby spectator boats & oponents alike.
The kids marquis event was a race of homemade boats constructed entirely by the kids in two age categories. Though not winners in their respective classes, "Silver Sails" and "Eric the Red" were worthy contenders & put in a strong showing. Eric The Red sailed most of the race backward yet was in posistion for a solid 3rd place showing before capsising just short of the finish line. Fortunately all crew memebers were saved. Silver Sails was entered in the reaching category & suffered from somewhat excessive heal & a tendancy to drift to leeward & self tack, yet it was one of the few entrants to finish stick side up.
Danielle in the pudding eating contest. A valiant effort but no prize.
